Job Description

Job Summary

We are currently recruiting an Emergency Medical Responder to join our team at our CNRL Wolf Lake Site (Approx 35 mins north of Bonnyville, AB), as follows,

  • Position is casual from April 30 to July 30, 2026.
  • Day Rate: $350/Day
  • Hours of Work: 10 Hours Daily; Monday to Thursday
  • Overtime: Only when pre-approved
  • Benefits and Pension: Yes

Emergency Medical Responder ensures that all first aid equipment is ready for a first aid emergency, provide care for people who are injured or become ill at work, assess the seriousness of an emergency and decide what treatment is necessary to reduce pain, prevent infection until the ambulance arrives. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure all medical equipment is inspected, certified and ready for an emergency 
  • Be familiar with the Transportation of Injured Worker & Evacuation Plan 
  • Provide care to workers who are injured or become ill at work 
  • Assess the severity of an emergency and decide what treatment is appropriate 
  • Ensure emergency transportation plan is completed 
  • Confirm communication equipment is fully operational 
  • Complete all appropriate documentation when following up with an incident 
  • Remain current with treatment protocols reviewing the corporate handbook weekly 
  • Ensure company vehicle is fully functional 
  • Clean First Aid Room every Friday and remove garbage’s unless otherwise required 
  • Keep track of the number of bodies on site( CNRL Employees/ Contractors) 
  • Be familiar with procedures such as: 
  1. Working Alone 
  2. Driving/Safe Operations of company vehicle 
  3. Fit for Duty 
  4. Emergency response plan 
  5. Transportation of injured worker plan 
  6. Backing up 
  7. Cleaning SABA 
  8. Fit Testing with Porta a count machine 
  9. Function Testing SCBA/SABA 
  10. Manual Lifting 
  11. Evacuation chart 

 

Requirements

 

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) 
  • ACP Practice Permit 
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C 
  • Airway Management (Red Cross) 
  • Oxygen Therapy (Red Cross) 
  • Basic Life Support (Red Cross) 
  • Basic Airway Adjuncts for SFA/FMR (OPA only) (AHS) 
  • Trained in the principles and techniques of quantitative Respirator Fit Testing (Levitt) 
  • Valid H2S Alive 
  • Valid class 3 driver’s license (Alberta License) 
  • Clean drivers abstract 
  • WHIMIS 
  • TDG 
  • CSTS 
  • SCOTT SCBA Course for SCBA servicing(Pivotal) 
  • Worksite Safety Observation (CNRL) 
  • Ergonomics (CNRL) 
  • Bear Awareness Training (CNRL) 
  • Fire Safety Training 
  • Enform EGSO 
  • Fall Protection equipment inspection program (Fall Protection Group) 
  • Incident Command System (ICS) 100 (AHS) 
  • Intramuscular and Intranasal Administration of Naloxone(AHS) 
  • Stars operational Training (AHS) 
  • Oropharyngeal/Nasopharyngeal Airway (Use and Application) (AHS) 

 

Other Medic Duties for Wolf Lake Site include: 

 

  • Semiannually PM for First aid kits inspection and restocking if required 
  • Order all material needed for inspections just for Wolf Lake main First Aid kits 
  • Monthly AED inspection, Every 3 years new batteries are required and pads need to be replaced as they expire 
  • Order pads and Batteries for AED’s for Wolf Lake Plant 
  • Working with Maximo 
  1. Work order closures for CNRL records once all inspections are complete 
  2. Preparing Work Orders when required 
  3. Work Order Tracking 
  4. Preparing PR ( Purchase Requisition) 
  5. Purchase Orders 
  6. Item Master 
  7. Item Master Change request 

 

  • Provide Fit Testing for CNRL employees and contractors (Wolf Lake Plant/ Primrose Plants
  • Clean and Inspect SCBA/SABA packs for Wolf Lake E/I shop only Prepare service PR for SCBA’s that require service repair 
  • Assist with Plant Inspections, Such as AED inspections, First Aid Kits inspections only the main First aid kits , Order Material 
  • Assist CNRL employees and Contractors with safety related purchases as requested 
  • Close all Work orders for Fire Alarm inspections for Wolf Lake E/I shop only
